The Timberwolves face off against the Grizzlies today in an incredibly important matchup for positioning within the Western Conference. A win tonight could keep you out of the Play In Tournament.
I’m targeting Julius Randle here in a matchup he has thrived in. Randle has exceeded this RA line in seven consecutive matchups against the Grizzlies including both matchups this season. His size and strength on the interior has been critical for Minnesota’s success. Now with Edey playing more minutes and Gobert being tasked with handling him, Randle should get a few extra opportunities to secure the boards against JJJ who is a relatively poor rebounder. Additionally, if JJJ covers him on the other side of the floor, that’s a tougher matchup and one he can dish to his teammates in.
Randle is averaging 11.7 RA, but considering the importance of this game I’d be shocked if he played fewer than 25 minutes. When he has seen that floor he’s averaging 12.1 and has exceeded this mark in 60% of games. This is also a clear Pace Up spot against the Grizzlies and that should present a few extra opportunities.
